Gently cleanse your skin twice a day, morning and night, to combat your skin of any pollutants, bacteria, and oil. A good cleanser contains sulfur, salicylic acid benzoyl peroxide, or tea tree oil. Remember harsher cleanser can actually increase oil production. Washing more often can lead to some side-effects like dry out and redness the skin. If you have a sweat problem then you can wash your skin more than twice a day.

Tissue paper

Always keep wipes or wet tissue in your bag so that you can remove excess oil. When you use tissue paper in your face doesn’t rub it. If you rub the tissue paper in your face then it will spread the oil to other areas.


Moisture and oil are two different things. Oily skin can also be dehydrated. It would seem a little contrary to hear that oily skin containing people also need moisturizer. It reduces oiliness and keeps your skin hydrated at a balanced level. But you should selectively choose the moisturizer like non-oily non-comedogenic moisturizer. On the other hand, you should avoid the moisturizer that contains lanolin, petrolatum or isopropyl myristate.


If you can, try to avoid products like foundation. If you have to go with foundation, then Use a mattifying primer or use an oil-free foundation. It can create a smooth surface on the skin and can absorb excess oil.


Never sleep without cleaning your makeup. Otherwise, it will clog your pores and exacerbate other skin problems that you may suffer from. Avoid touching your face without a clean hand as it can transfer the dirt to your face. Use minimal makeup; you can only use mascara and lipstick.
